We are excited to announce that on Monday 20th June 2022, we opened our first shared house in Southampton. We welcomed Maria*, our first resident! This is the first of a network of houses across Hampshire we plan to open for women and children, alongside our Hope Street residential hub due to be completed this year.

The house has five bedrooms, all with ensuite shower rooms, and a generous shared living space on the ground floor that leads into a small courtyard garden. We have been very fortunate to have received support from Vivid Homes, who donated the kitchen and kitchen appliances for the house.

Our consultations with women on the design of Hope Street told us the importance of being somewhere with space and natural light to recover from trauma. We have embedded these design principles in the house, to create a sense of calm and safety for the women and children who will stay there.

Hope House residents will be supported by a dedicated member of the Hope Street team who ensures that they have all the support they need and are able to participate in a wide range of activities aimed at improving their confidence, skills and wellbeing.

We were delighted that financing to purchase the property came from Social & Sustainable Capital (SASC)'s Community Investment Fund.
